In Laguardia, Spain Santiago Calatrava designed the Hau da Ysios upetegia for the Bodegas and Bebidas winery. I'm particularly fascinated with the architecture of this winery because of the undeniable meaning behind the architecture. I feel that it symbolizes the journey that wine travels through in its lifetime. This building seems to mimic the undulating up and downs at the beginning, only to peak in the middle (as wine does), and then falls down into its inevitable decline.
The relationship that the building has to the vines, the scenery around it, and the sky above is flawless. Santiago Calatrava has done a wonderful job bringing the passion and life of wine into an art form that engages us and excites us.
So amazing! I love the water feature around the front. I guess we'll just have to go visit!
