Over the holiday season I had the privilege of visiting Lynfred Winery in Roselle, Illinois. It was snowing the day that we pulled up to the winery and it's cozy and inviting presence was a welcome sight. Being from California it was refreshing to see such a well established winery in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Upon entering the winery guests are greeted by a friendly staff, a tasting room lined with beautiful oak paneling, and a gift shop that I could spend hours in. We were fortunate enough to be invited on a tour of the winery and were very impressed with what we saw.
Down the stairs from the tasting room is where you will find Lynfred Winery in full operation. Beautiful brick lined arches greet you as you travel through cask lined rooms. Leading down from there is where the wine is processed before bottling. Interestingly enough Lynfred Winery gets most of their grapes from California and some from Michigan and neighboring areas as well.
Besides the area that processes the wine there are a plethora of areas for the guest to enjoy. One such area is a VIP room reserved for private parties and club member gatherings. In here you will see the talent that abounds at Lynfred Winery. One of their employees is credited with all of the wood work that you see in the room- including the creative use of reclaimed wine barrel furniture in the chairs, barstools, and tables. As you walk through the winery the use of oak is everywhere and really enhances the warmth and hospitality that you feel as you walk through.
Walking between the VIP room and the tasting room guests pass by beautiful stained glass windows dripping with grape clusters- a beautiful backdrop to the open landing on the other side.
An elaborate and exclusive four-suite bed and breakfast have been added to the winery as well. Choose from either the French, German, Italian, or American suite and you won't be disappointed. All four suites have been designed by a different designer allowing for each suite to feel unique and special. The attention to detail is exquisite everywhere you look.
Lynfred Winery is a special place that has been greeting guests in the Chicagoland area for over 30 years. It is a gem to behold and one that I will be visiting again on my next trip back to Chicago.

Is that vine all over the winery real? It’s so cool if it is! I would not notice what it is really if not for the roof, stairs, and door. It looks really interesting!
