The Los Angeles Conservancy has just awarded 213, a prime developer in the revitalization of the Los Angeles Historic Core, and 2009 Preservation Award for its work on Cole's Eatery, originator of the French Dip. Cole's has been serving patrons since 1908 and after a century of ongoing service they felt that it needed a good cleaning. Cole's could have easily turned into a cartoon caricature of an old-time eatery, but instead 213 has gone through invaluable restraint in doing just enough to renew the original features while keeping the authentic patina of a century-old landmark.
213 has taken many of the old buildings downtown and refurbished them into lively and beautiful places that are luring people back to this part of the city. They have beautifully restored these buildings, keeping the integrity in tack, and yet appealing to our modern culture... perfect!
